2019.
INDEPENDENT PUBLIC SCHOOL
Nannup District High School is now an ‘Independent
Public School’ (IPS). This gives the school greater fl exibility
to match its resources (both physical and staffi
ng) to its
programs. A ‘Strategic Plan’ is produced which provides
the direc• on for the school over a three-year period.
In this plan, programs are outlined along with specifi c
targets which will measure the degree of success of these
programs. Parents will be involved in the development of
the strategic plan – mainly through opportuni• es provided
by the School Board. The Board will have oversight of the
strategic plan and part of its role will be to ensure the plan
is implemented and targets assessed.
SCHOOL REVIEW
An important part of the opera• on of a school is its own
review of how well it is going. Whilst it is part of being
an IPS school, this is now a formal process for all public
schools. An external reviewer visits the school to validate
the decisions the school has made. Nannup will be having
its review on Thursday 7 March. Whilst this gives us a very
short • me-line I am confi dent we can successfully work our
way through this process. I am also confi dent the decisions
and recommenda• ons of the review will clearly inform the
direc• on for the fi rst strategic plan. The staff will be working
hard over the next couple of weeks to put together the
evidence needed to substan• ate our judgements about
how well the school is going. This will be submi" ed to the
reviewers before they make their visit.

and vital in the case of an emergency.
