7 DAYS A WEEK
W
ow, the weather really turned it on for this deligh• ul
local event! The sun was shining in a bright, blue
sky and the warm autumn weather made this the perfect
day to be outside.
The ladies of the South West Foodbowl did a splendid job
se!
ng up the long tables and created a scene, reminiscent
of the outdoor cafes in France. Crisp white tablecloths,
shining silver cutlery and dazzling place se!
ngs set the
scene for what turned out to be a marvellous a" ernoon.
The shady blue gazebos complete with a tasteful hanging
garden as a colourful adornment and quality glassware
were an instant assault on the senses, alongside the
glorious Blackwood River.
The semi-trailer, which was to be the kitchen for the day,
was behind us and the smells coming from the mobile
kitchen as we arrived for lunch, were mouth-watering.
Stephanie, the Head Waitress from Supper Road, a local
catering business, and her waitresses, served fi ve courses
of delectable food, accompanied by quality local wines to
suit all tastes.
The freshly made crusty, ar$ san bread, served with a
delicious nut bu% er, and warm local olives were a perfect
start to the meal. The courses that followed included a
goat’s cheese croque% e, mouth-watering local marron,
slow cooked lamb that melted in your mouth, local beef
cooked to perfec$ on and an array of seasonal vegetables
presented in a variety of ways, both warm and cold. The
tomato medley salad was an instant hit with the eyes and
the tastebuds were le" wan$ ng more.
Just when you thought you couldn’t possibly fi t in another
morsel of exquisite local fare, out comes a deligh& ul
selec$ on of deserts – panna co% a, Eton mess and a truly
delicious $ ramisu with a twist with tea and coff ee.
It was also heart-warming to see so many people bid on the
fundraising auc$ on, for prizes donated by local business,
which included a lazy susan and coat hook made from
jarrah from the South-West.
This event in Nannup will defi nitely be on my calendar for
2020!
On behalf of the South West Foodbowl Assn. I would like to
thank all the local businesses who donated goods for the
auc• on or raffl
e for the South West Foodbowl Long Table
Lunch. It was an amazing day with $1947 raised from the
auc• on and $317.20 from the raffl
e. Without the support
of our wonderful local businesses we would not have been
able to achieve this outcome. The funds will go towards
developing an interac• ve display for the Educa• on Days.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Nannup
Ridge and Whimwood for the dona• on of the lovely wines
that were served at the Long Table Lunch. It is great to be
able to put such quality products on the tables.
A big thank you must go to the amazing waitresses and bar
staff and to the commi• ee of the South West Foodbowl for
pu•
ng on such a great event.
