John & Marijke Tromp Hold Their First Nannup Exhibition

annup is lucky to have two very ar• s• c newcomers
to town. Renowned ar• sts John and Marijke Tromp
moved to Nannup in August 2019. They wasted no • me
in joining the Nannup Arts group and entered their work
in the October 2019 Nannup Spring Arts Exhibi• on, a bi-
yearly event. John’s Oil on Canvas piece ‘Mother Earth’ was
awarded with the Nannup Arts Member Award. From 4th –
25th January 2020, the pair held an Exhibi• on of Pain• ngs
and Tex• les at the Nannup Supper Room (Nannup Arts
headquarters).
John and Marijke met in the 1970’s whilst Marijke at the
• me worked as a social worker incorpora• ng crea• ve arts
into her therapies. John’s career at the • me was equestrian
based and the couple met when a group of children they
were both working with brought them together.
As John turned 40, he decided that his life’s work was
changing and looked to take a• er his father and other
family members becoming a painter, a fi ne ar• st. He
completed over 150 pain• ngs in his fi rst year alone. The
couple love to travel, fi nding inspira• ons from all corners
