T
he tenth annual Family Fun Day on 21 January was a hit
with families from the region enjoying the entertainment
and fes• ve atmosphere throughout the day. Over 400
people a• ended the event including families from Nannup,
Busselton, Margaret River, Bridgetown, Ballingup and
Manjimup.
The entertainment from the young performers was
outstanding along with the many a• rac• ons open to
the younger members of our community to enjoy. The
outstanding possum garden workshop provided detailed
informa• on on local plant species and how to a• ract the
possums to Nannup Gardens thanks to the Southwest
Catchment Council’s contribu• on.
With amazing community support from the local
organisa• ons such as the Men’s Shed, the South West
Food Bowl, Lions Club, Nannup Fire and Rescue, St Johns
Ambulance, Nannup Mountain Bike Club, Nannup Playgroup,
Nannup Local Drug Ac• on Group and Nannup YAC added to
the atmosphere.
Local businesses also sponsored the event contribu• ng
to the vibe, including Worthy Contrac• ng for the Sand Pit
and Nannup Fresh Fruit for the dona• on of the summer
fruit selec• on. The event was only possible because of the
sponsorship from Healthway, Southwest Catchment Council,
the Local Drug Ac• on Team and Australian Drug Founda• on,
Road Safety Commission and the Shire of Nannup to host
the event.

F
or the past nine months the Nannup Historical
Society inc. (NHS) has been in the process of digi• zing
its collec• on of photographic memorabilia (approx..
3000 photos). The purpose of the exercise is fi rst and
foremost to preserve the images, which are subject
to deteriora• on over • me. The second objec• ve is to
make the collec• on available online so it can be used
for research.
A large number of images have been captured to date,
with the task of making them available online now in
progress. This is a • me consuming task as each record
needs to be checked against the original data entry. Only
checked data is made available online.

family then click on the “Smith” tag and all the photos
which have a “Smith” reference will be displayed.
You will also no• ce that we have a large group called
“Unknown” where we have no informa• on regarding
some or all of the subjects in the photo. If you come
across one of these and have further informa• on then
please contact us so we can update the database.
We are always on the lookout for any historical photos
relevant to Nannup. If you have any then please contact
us, we do not need to keep them but just scan them and
then return them to you.
